What is the Register of Competence in Psychological Testing?

An entry on the Register of Competence indicates that a person is actively involved in test use and has agreed to abide by the Society's Code of Good Practice in Psychological Testing.

In order to enter the Register you have to be a qualified tester with a Statement/Certificate of Competence in Educational or Occupational Testing granted by the Society. Alternatively, you have to be a qualified Test Administrator.
A registrant pays annually to maintain an entry on the Register. The current annual subscription for entry on to the Register is £35.

Entry on the Register gives qualified testers and test administrators some tangible benefits:
• Receipt of a quarterly magazine Assessment & Development Matters
• Unlimited online access to over 135 independently reviewed test reviews
• Access to back issues of PTC magazines

The Register of Competence is a reference point to check on the level of testing qualification held by individuals you may wish to consult or employ. Test publishers, trainers, employers and members of the public make contact with the PTC office to ascertain whether an individual is qualified and to what level. (Tel: 0116 252 9530)

The Society encourages employers to only use competent test users.

Before the end of 2010 we intend to move the Register into the public domain, via our website.

Please note that the Register is the official record of qualified testers and this information is held by the PTC office. The Directory of Qualified Testers has a different purpose and is a subscription-based directory listing qualified occupational testers who wish to promote their services to the general public via a paid entry.
