The Psychological Testing CentreMission StatementTo establish the British Psychological Society's Psychological Testing Centre as the leading national organisation for all matters relating to psychological testing, and to set, promote and maintain standards in testing. Our HistoryThe British Psychological Society's Psychological Testing Centre (PTC) provides a focus for all society activities in relation to psychological testing. The Psychological Testing Centre on-line provides access to information about tests and testing. Whether you are a psychologist, a test user or a member of the public interested in knowing more about testing, the Psychological Testing Centre Online is a valuable resource. The Steering Committee on Test Standards (SCTS) has been operating under the aegis of the Professional Practice Board (PPB) for many decades to promote high technical standards in the design and development of occupational tests and their use by psychologists and non-psychologists alike. In January 2003, The Psychological Testing Centre was formed to consolidate activities in psychological testing to include educational testing and the publishing and dissemination of advisory statements. In addition guidelines and other literature on standards for the construction, use and availability of tests. Training requirements and qualifications of test users are also considered. Committee StructureSteering Committee on Test Standards The Chair of SCTS is Professor Dave Bartram C Psychol FBPsS and Deputy Chair Dr Pat Lindley C Psychol AFBPsS. The PTC Executive consists of: The PTC Manager - Chair Senior Editor of the Test Reviews Editor of PTC online Level A Occupational testing Senior Verifier Level B Occupational testing Senior Verifier Level A Educational testing Senior Verifier Level A tests for use in a Health setting sub-group (Chair) The sub-committees operating under the aegis of the SCTS are: The PTC Executive Committee Senior Editor and Editors of Test Reviews Editor and Sub-Editors of PTC Online Level A Occupational testing Verifiers group Level B Occupational testing Verifiers group Level A Educational testing Verifiers group Level A Sub-Group for tests in a health setting The Office StaffThe PTC is based at the Leicester Office and is run by a small team. Rachel Middleton - PTC Manager. The PTC Manager leads and manages the Psychological Testing Centre on a commercial footing. This involves guiding and developing the team. managing the work of sub-contractors, advising committees, project management and developing support services and marketing, all within the remit of the PTC budget. Mala Pancholi - Assistant Manager. Mala's duties primarily include supporting the PTC Manager and the team. Duties range from training the team, supporting committees and verifiers groups. Also undertaking project work in setting up infrastructures to support service systems, database developments, website editing and editing of publishing documents on a range of topics in Psychological Testing. Ayshea King- Project Officer. Ayshea's role it is to maintain and develop the profile of existing and new products/services in line with test standards of the PTC, to ensure increased market share, income and reputation. This also includes providing committees with appropriate support and advice when required. Julie Hubble - Administrative Assistant. Julie is responsible for processing applications for the Certificates of Competence in Occupational/Educational Testing and entries to the on-line directories. In addition to this she shares joint responsibility for answering general enquiries that come into the office via telephone and e-mail. Support is also given to committees when required. Lorna Bray - Administrative Assistant. Lorna is responsible for processing Certificate applications and entries to the PTC on-line directories. She supports the Educational testing Verifiers group and is also responsible for maintaining the PTC website.
